Distressed owner of lost Pug offering over $1K for return
The advertising content that appears on Ukraine Business Online is often as much of a surprise to me as anyone else. However, a new ad appearing today certainly caught my eye.
Perhaps I should first explain that UBO, as is the case with many online publications, contracts with Google for the placement of ads with the website receiving some payment but having no control of ad content.
The ad in question is obvious proof that Ukrainians are animal lovers. Owners of lost dogs often use small, unpaid social media announcements with unspecified reward amounts offered. In this case, the ad is quite large and the reward amount is the largest we’ve ever seen in Ukraine, UAH 25,000, which translates to approximately USD 1,111. Not only that, the owner appears to have contracted with Rozetka Internet Magazine to handle the campaign.
We sympathize with the family that placed the ad, since we would be equally distressed if our beloved Schnauzer female, Julie, disappeared.
For the language-challenged the ad copy, which appears in Russian, reads:
Lost dog!
Pug, boy, 6 years old, nicknamed Zeus
The dog is sick and in need of special care and nutrition!
Zeus disappeared near Novoobuhovskoy track. He was wearing a collar. Please, if you have seen our little friend, respond! The hosts are waiting for his return.
The reward to the finder:
UAH 25 000.
