The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said that the government needs to prepare a schedule of the transition to the Latin alphabet, according to “news Kazakhstan” with reference to the newspaper “Egemen Kazakhstan”.
“That is, by 2025, all business documents, periodicals and books should start to emerge in the Latin alphabet. Now begin a lot of preparatory work. The government should prepare a schedule of the transition to the Latin alphabet, said Nazarbayev.
The head of state reminded that, historically, since the middle ages the translation of the Kazakh language for a particular alphabet has been associated with political reasons. According to Nazarbayev, he back in 2012 spoke of the need to move to Latin in the framework of the strategy “Kazakhstan-2050”.
The President noted that the youth transition to another system will not cause difficulties, because they are learning English in school.
