UAOC proposes celebration to mark its 100th anniversary of rebirth at state level

2017 marks 100 years since the beginning of the rise of the church-national movement for the revival of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.

KYIV, Mar 7, 2017 (UBO) – The Chairman of the Spiritual Education Commission of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Bishop Victor (Bed) appealed to the state leadership with a proposal to mark the 100th anniversary of the revival of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, Keuapc.org reports.

2017 marks 100 years since the beginning of the rise of the church-national movement for the revival of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.

 On the occasion of the anniversary, Bishop Victor Bed of Carpathians and Mukachevo, President of the International Theological Academy and Chairman of the Commission for Spirituality of Education and Catechization of the UAOC, sent a written request to Ukraine’s President, Parliament Speaker and Prime Minister to mark nationwide the 100th anniversary of the rebirth of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.

On this occasion, it was proposed to issue the appropriate decrees by the President and Parliament of Ukraine, and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

It was encouraged to invite representatives of the supreme bodies of state power and local government, Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Kyiv Patriarchate, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and other Churches that officially operate in Ukraine, the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and other Local Churches, Ministry of Culture Ukraine, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, universities, research institutions, secondary educational institutions, NGOs and wider Ukrainian public.
