SBU encourages Ukrainians to leave Russian social networks

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) warns that in the current circumstances of the ongoing Russian aggression on the territory of Ukraine, the new powers would allow the FSB to obtain information on the Ukrainian events available in the web to further use it in prejudice of the national security

A new anti-terrorist law comes into effect in Russia on 1 August 2014 to allow the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) to obtain practically all personal data on the users of Internet resources registered in Russia.

 

The FSB is thus legally vested with authority to interfere with personal lives not only of the Russian citizens, but also of the foreigners, reports Presa Ukrainy. The owners of mail servers, blog hostings, forums and social networks would be under an obligation to provide on demand by the representatives of the Russian authorities data on all logins and e-mail addresses of their users, their contacts lists and data on the number, size and recipients of the sent messages.
