Mariupol has witnessed bloodshed.

At night, some people tried to seize a military unit. They were attacking passers-by, setting buildings ablaze and shooting at windows and flats. They tried to capture a commuter bus taking steel makers home from work.

Over the past few days Ukrainian people have been deliberately pushed for violence, war and a break-up of the country.

We address the citizens of Mariupol who want a peaceful life.

Even if we have different views and beliefs, we must not fight each other!

Even if things go wrong, you must not call invaders to come to your home!

Even if you have complaints against the government, you must not take weapons and prove your rightness by force.

The chain reaction of murders, anarchy and chaos must be put to an end.

For the sake of safety of our fellow countrymen, our families, our colleagues in the steel industry, we insist that the law-enforcement authorities find and punish those who provoked and orchestrated the bloodshed. We support our military and police.

We call upon all Mariupol citizens, who amid protests are taking part in seizures of buildings and violence, to go home and not to endanger their lives and the life of the whole town. Murders and bloodshed will get you nowhere.

Most of Mariupol citizens have always been, and remain, patriots of a united Ukraine.
