Tymoshenko: the army and police need everyone’s help

“Every presidential candidate needs right now to focus not on their PR campaigns but on really protecting Ukraine. I ask that all the money to be spent on advertising, billboards, and bribing voters, be transferred to the fund of the National Resistance Movement. I will be the first to do this tomorrow. No advertising. But elections must be held on May 25, and not an hour later," Tymoshenko said.

KYIV, Apr 16, 2014 (UBO) - Presidential candidate and leader of the Batkivshchyna Party Yulia Tymoshenko said during a recent television appearance that she is initiating the creation of a National Resistance Movement to defend Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

"Our army and policy aren’t strong enough to stand up to one of the strongest countries in the world – Russia – on their own. The time has come to be honest and tell Ukrainians that everyone’s help is needed right now. People that are willing to voluntarily defend Ukraine need to form a national resistance movement," Tymoshenko said on ICTV.

She believes the National Resistance Movement should be joined by soldiers that have combat experience, former special forces, and experts in military strategy and doctrine. "There are also people who don’t have a military background who are ready to go forward with courage and patriotism. I urge everyone who has experience in military operations, who served in the army, the Security Service of Ukraine, and other special units to unite and form a National Resistance Movement," the leader of Batkivshchyna underscored.

Tymoshenko is also in support of setting up a special fund to raise money to support the National Resistance Movement. "We can see that the situation is difficult for the army and police and if we don’t get involved, then what kind of patriots are we, and what will we tell our children when we lose our land?" she added.

She believes a supervisory board of representatives of the nation’s high moral elite needs to be created to monitor the use of all donated funds.

Tymoshenko also urged all other presidential candidates to support the formation of a National Resistance Movement. "We need to urgently unite our efforts. The presidential campaign is underway. You can’t be touring the country, placing billboard advertisements and airing TV commercials, putting on concerts on big stages. Every presidential candidate needs right now to focus not on their PR campaigns but on really protecting Ukraine. I ask that all the money to be spent on advertising, billboards, and bribing voters, be transferred to the fund of the National Resistance Movement. I will be the first to do this tomorrow. No advertising. But elections must be held on May 25, and not an hour later," Tymoshenko said.
