NTU seeking 2014 entry in Eurovision Song Contest

Ukraine’s Eurovision selection won in 2004 and placed third in 2013


KYIV, Oct 23, 2014 (UBO) – The National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU) today announced via its website a call for proposals to participate in the national selection of Eurovision Song Contest 2014 to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark in May 2014.

 

Ruslana Stepanivna Lyzhychko (Ukrainian: Руслана Степанівна Лижичко, born on 24 May 1973), commonly known just as Ruslana, was a World Music Award winning and MTV Europe Music Award nominated artist. As a result of her Wild Dances song and dance routine’s high level of popularity, Ruslana won the 2004 Contest and triggered Ukraine’s hosting of the event the following year.

 

Traditionally, members have to submit to the discretion of the jury and spectators a song lasting no longer than 3 minutes in any language with performance on stage by no more than six persons. Details and rules for applications are subject to the Regulation of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.

 

Applications for participation in the national selection PKYE 2014 will run until December 6. Applications should be sent to the address: NTU, Melnikova Str 42, Kyiv, 04119, telephone: 044-481-46-14 or 044-482-03-68 .

 

Application form for participation in the national selection of Eurovision Song Contest 2014 is published on the official NTU website.

 

A preliminary round of selections will be held on December 7 in which all who volunteered will take part in the national selection that will choose the top 20 songs that match the conditions of the Rules and Regulations of the Contest. The jury will listen to the participants, with 20 chosen as finalists in the selection process.

 

The final will be held on December 21, 2013 with a mixed voting (jury and interactive audience voting) determining the winning song that will represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. The final of the national selection will be broadcast live on Ukraine’s First National TV channel.

 

Eurovision Song Contest 2014 will be held in May 2014 in Copenhagen with the first semifinal on May 6, the second semi-final - May 8, and the final on May 10, which will be carried live by the First National channel, which covers 98% of the territory of Ukraine.
