All movable and immovable property in Ukraine owned by former Minister of Internal Affairs Vitaliy Zakharchenko, as well as funds listed in his name in Ukrainian banks, have been seized as reported by the television channel Pryamoi, citing the press service of the National Police.

The arrest has been imposed on all the movable and immovable property of the suspect, [as well as] money located in banking institutions on the territory of Ukraine, the television station quotes the National Police as saying.

It was noted that the relevant decision was taken as part of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine investigation of criminal proceedings on suspicion of Zakharchenko’s involvement in a number of crimes during the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity.

Editor’s Note: As with so many of the Yanukovych ministers, upon the collapse of the government, Zakharchenko fled to Russia and was seen appearing in at least one joint news conference from Rostov-on-Don with former President Yanukovych and the former Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka. Zakharchenko also followed the familiar pattern of seeking Russian government protection and high level employment with companies close to President Vladimir Putin.

An RFE/RL article on Jan 17, 2015 said part:

“Vitaliy Zakharchenko, whom Ukrainian officials accuse of "crimes against humanity" allegedly committed during the crackdown on Euromaidan protesters, said January 16 that he has been offered a job as a senior consultant with Russian Technologies.

"The company, which oversees the Russia's high-tech industries, is controlled by Sergei Chemezov, who is widely seen as close to Putin."
