The events of the last night have left Kyiv’s hospitals overwhelmed. Private medical facilities are filling the gap

The area controlled by the EuroMaidan protesters appears to have shrunk considerably but several thousand persons remain actively opposing the Berkut in Independence Square

“The Embassy advises all Citizens to maintain a low profile and to remain indoors tonight. The Kyiv Metro (subway) has been shut down and access into Kyiv by road has, according to credible reports, been restricted.”

 

Klitschko: "The government deliberately staged provocations to force blood and disperse and destroy Square protests and activists.”

 

We have what appear to be reliable reports of nine dead in violence earlier today, even before the beginning on the major attack on EuroMaidan. 

The government has unleashed the full force of its security forces on Independence Square including three water cannons and what appears to be all available Berkut forces. The battle is too intense to judge at this hour but it seems certain the bloodshed will be great and it is impossible to imagine the situation ending without some loss of life.
