This morning, news agency ITAR-TASS reported that an unnamed member of the pro-Russia self-defense forces had said that Ponomaryov had been “dismissed from his post and arrested.”

“By the end of the year about twenty SU-27 fighter jets will be based at Belbek airbase serving the Russian air defense unit,” a Russian MoD source told RIAN.

“We are grateful for this prophetic unity to all our brothers and sisters in faith, to Roman Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims and especially the Orthodox Churches of Ukraine.”

“Putin has miscalculated. People in Ukraine do not divide in nationalities and characteristics of language, they do not fight among themselves, they don’t consider the issue of language of foremost importance. Everyone is fighting against the aggressor, the occupant: Ukrainian and Russian speakers, ethnic Ukrainians and the representatives of other nationalities.”

The Patriarch of Moscow and all the Russians tightens the invitation from Pope Francis, the “rivalry” with Bartholomew and the crisis in Ukraine

The absolute mendacity of many of those in top positions in the Yanukovych administration is nothing less than stomach-turning. Each new revelation adds to the public’s knowledge of the myriad of corrupt schemes that many operated before the Yanukovych regime fell – and many of those in positions of power fled – mostly to the Russian Federation.  As an example, this AP photo shows a clear plastic table and chairs in a soundproof vault built into the heart of Kyiv’s tax ministry. Officials say that a massive tax fraud overseen by senior members of the previous government squeezed billions of dollars out of their country’s budget - and that some of the corrupt deals may have been struck inside this vault. Officials say the vault is equipped with thick walls and a white noise generator to prevent eavesdropping; they add that the transparent furniture was intended to reassure the vault’s users that their conversations weren’t being bugged. Two Moscow experts have made claims that suggest Putin’s “Russian World” dreams and his willingness to meddle in Ukraine knows no bounds. If these experts are right and “the struggle for Ukraine is moving toward a decisive stage,” then we could soon see Luhansk-Donetsk becoming a 21st century reminder of early 20th century Sarajevo. If Putin takes the steps these experts suggest, then it is probably no exaggeration to suggest we are facing a much broader war on and about the borders of Ukraine’s sovereign territory. To understand what Ukraine could be facing in the days ahead, we strongly recommend you make the commentary below today’s “must read”.

Analyst: “Most educated residents of Ukraine would view Lavrov’s defense of the Donetsk and Luhansk terrorists as ridiculous. It’s worth pointing out that while Moscow has been supplying the Ukrainian terrorists with fighters and sophisticated weapons, the fighters of the EuroMaidan had at their disposal only makeshift clubs or in the most extreme case, their own hunting rifles, with no aid from the West.”

“The Pontiff's words were relayed in private, ‘in front of very few people’ on the margins of the concert held in conjunction with the Synodal Choir of the Moscow Patriarchate.”
